New to AA?
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Copyright © The AA Grapevine, Inc. Reprinted with permission

What advice do you give new members?
In our experience, the people who recover in A.A.
are those who:
a) stay away from the first drink;
b) attend A.A. meetings regularly;
c) seek out the people in A.A. who have successfully stayed sober for some time;
d) try to put into practice the A.A. program of recovery;
e) obtain and study the Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous.
3. How it works (PDF) – Chapter 5 of the Big Book…The 12 steps
Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely
give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves.
